Very Interesting Conversation I had today with one of my friend who works with an MNC as a Developer ! I thought of sharing this with you, as many would be facing the same situation. As a proof, even I had the same problem!
An old friend of mine called me today and asked me if I would meet him today, as he had to discuss something important about his career ! I initially guessed, he would be asking me about some course that I know is best in market . We met each other. He seriously had some important conversation with me.
Friend:
Dear, I am not happy with what I am doing in my current company. Its because of my parent's force and for the fear of society I am doing this job. I want to get into film making. I love film making. But, I am scared if I would succeed there. If suppose, I fail, then, what will I do ? I will even loose my current job and my parents would be unhappy. Sir, please suggest me.
What I answered: (This is what I felt, and I answered. Correct me if I am wrong)
Buddy, First and foremost tell me, What is the guarantee that you will fail ? Trust me, if you love something and you do it with your passion, there are very very less chances that you fail. Also, tell me, what would happen if you fail ? Will you die ? Will you land in footpath ? Will your parents kill you ? Will society kill you ? None of these would happen. Then why do you FEAR ? Only thing that would probably happen if you fail is "You failed". Thats it ! And nothing else. When, many people earn their livelihood without proper education ( Example: Roadside chats, juice centers etc.), don't you think, you can live royally as you are educated and more over you have a degree certificate. You can get back to work if you fail once in your field and try once again later.
The biggest mistake is that, we never even try doing what we like doing just for the fear of society. Please keep in mind that, there would be plenty of people who would discourage you while you want to do something different. Those people who discourage you are the ones who never tried anything new in life. They would initially laugh at you. Please do not care a damn for those people. Live for yourself. Believe in yourself. You are different from others. You can achieve whatever you wish to, if you are truly dedicated to it.
In my case, when I told my colleagues, that I am quitting my job to pursue my dreams of socialist, many people laughed, ridiculed and discouraged me in doing so, saying, I would fail and never even dream of leaving such a nice job.
Little advice:
Friends, we have only one life. This life is a gift of god. Try doing something worthwhile. Try to live it to the fullest as you wish. Never care for the people around you until and unless you are doing something negative to the society. If you don't try now, later you will never be able to do it. And you would regret your entire life for not doing it. You might initially fail, when you go against the crowd. But, that is how success happens. If you want to get up, you have to fall down. But, the fact is, fall down early, so that you can wake up early. Never do something by force. You will never enjoy. If you have a dream, go chase it. Dreams are yours, make it happen. Give it a try today. Never delay.
